Margaret Wallace Clothing Alterations opened in 1971 when Margaret recognised a need in the market. At the time she was working for a tailor, John Wilkinson, when several of the menswear retailers helped and encouraged her to go out on her own. It was tough but she persevered to become the most respected and trusted clothing alterations business in the greater Waikato area. The name became synonymous with clothing alterations and still is to this day.
That is why in 1999, when Vicki Dromgool, current owner, bought the business she decided to keep the name. Vicki had worked for Margaret Wallace Clothing Alterations for 7 years before the opportunity to buy it arose. In that time she has seen a lot of changes in Hamilton CBD but Margaret’s has stood firm. "We have a very loyal regular customer base who recognise the high standard of our workmanship", says Vicki.
Max, Hallensteins, The Trouser Room, Rossellini and Farmers, Cene, TS14+, Moochi, are some of the clothing shops that Margaret Wallace Clothing Alterations is pleased to do business with.
